Hints

Be original – choose your own style and approach.
Be yourself – your personal view is important. Show your ideas, yourself, your life and your experiences.
Choose your message – figure out what you want to say and stay on topic.
Make it tasteful – you know what this means…don’t curse or show stuff that we shouldn’t see.
Don’t show any logos or brand names for anything (see below for more on this).
Don’t show anyone’s “identifying” information, including your own (i.e., address, driver’s license, phone numbers).
Speak up – make the video sound loud enough so we can hear it.
Read and understand the Submission Criteria, the Terms and Conditions, and the AbovetheInfluence.com terms of use included in the Web site privacy policy.

This is your chance to be a part of the team and tell the world about Above the Influence. You know what this campaign is all about, so share it with us — and the rest of the world. Who knows – maybe you’ll even inspire others by what you say.

Your personal video expression can be almost anything – a dramatization, documentary-style interview (with yourself or others), a montage, or even a commercial-style video that you might create for the campaign. Or tell us how you live above it – you know, how you deal with pressures, stay healthy and avoid drugs. And in the next few months, we’ll pick a few of your videos to post on the site.

We have a few guidelines below that you can check out before you begin. This will increase your chance of having your video make it onto the site. Be creative, be original and be yourself. Entries will be selected based on their originality and effectiveness at delivering the Above the Influence message.

Specs

Time: You can submit spots that are 2 minutes or shorter.
File types: Submit your videos online with final, encoded version of video spots not to exceed 20MB.
Logo: If chosen, we will add the Above the Influence logo and URL to the end of your spot.

Submission Criteria

  • We will not choose or post videos of anyone using illicit drugs or drinking underage, or any video that advocates substance use.
  • If your video is chosen, we will need you to return a signed release before we post your video on the AbovetheInfluence.com site. If you are under age 18 (or under 19 in Alabama and Nebraska, or under 21 in Mississippi) your parents will also need to sign the release. We will send you these releases to you if your video is chosen.
  • If you show other people in your video, we will need to have each of them sign a release as well. (We’ll send you these releases if your video is chosen.)
  • You must be the original author of everything in the video including music, audio, speech/voiceovers, stills, video, or other audiovisual materials. So don’t use any copyright-protected material (like music that you didn’t write or record – even playing in the background – or artwork that you didn’t create totally from scratch).
  • We will not post your video if it’s been published, distributed or won any awards in the past.
  • We will not post videos that aren’t suitable for display and publication on the Internet (i.e., it may not be obscene or indecent, including but not limited to nudity or profanity); it must not contain defamatory statements (including but not limited to words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic group), it must not include threats to any person, place, business, group or world peace, it must not invade privacy or other rights of any person, firm or entity, and it must not in any other way violate applicable laws, regulations or terms of use.
  • We won’t use videos that have obvious logos or brand names in them. (However, we will sometimes edit the image to preserve the message but mask the brand name.)
  • Selected videos will be those we deem to be of good production quality, and will have a clear message or something to say (addressing the original video assignment).

If you have any additional questions about this project, please email us at ATIvideos@abovetheinfluencemail.com.
